Research is a fundamental mission that holds a central place at ESME, as it serves two main purposes: on the one hand, it enhances education, and on the other, it equips students with specific skills through mastery of tools and the scientific approach inherent to research activities. Research can serve as the first link in the innovation chain, enabling engineers who are introduced to this activity to transform the results obtained into industrial applications. Research is an activity integrated into the school’s strategy, guided by the Research Directorate and supported by a Scientific Council that includes external experts from industrial and academic backgrounds.

The research team, gathered under the name ESME Research Lab, currently consists of nearly 25 members. The team is coordinated by Dr. Aude Herry, Director of Research and scientific integrity officer, who leads and supervises all research activities in accordance with scientific integrity standards.

The ESME Research Lab meets regularly, including during monthly Research Meetings. These Rendez-Vous bring together the research team to attend presentations from invited speakers or team members discussing topics of interest for their own R&D activities. Some of these meetings are open to students to raise awareness about the world of research.
