Inter‑School Mobility

IONIS TECH offers faculty members the opportunity to advance their careers through internal mobility whenever positions aligned with their profile and experience become available in other Schools. The terms of such mobility are as follows:

  • Mobility takes the form of a temporary assignment, during which the faculty member remains an employee of their home School.
  • The duration of the mobility is limited, and renewal conditions are defined in an agreement concluded between the two Schools concerned. This agreement also specifies the termination conditions.
  • The faculty member’s base salary is maintained; however, any additional compensation linked to specific responsibilities is determined by the nature of the missions entrusted to them by the host School.
  • The host School reimburses, on a full‑cost basis, the faculty member’s salary and additional compensation. The total annual amount is communicated by the host School to the home School.
  • During the mobility period, the faculty member must indicate their dual affiliation in publications. Each School counts the faculty member within its workforce.

Sabbatical Leave

Any faculty member may submit a sabbatical leave project to the School’s leadership, for a duration ranging from 3 to 11 months, once every 7 years. The project is evaluated by the School according to the following criteria:

  • Alignment of the project with the School’s scientific objectives (themes, visibility, etc.) and international partnerships;
  • Added value of the project for the faculty member’s skills development and for strengthening the expertise of their home laboratory;
  • Funding plan (host university contributions, specific programs, associated grants);
  • Substitution plan for the duties affected by the mobility (teaching, administrative responsibilities);
  • Expected benefits and valorization of the experience upon return.

Each School determines the level of its financial contribution to the sabbatical (partial or full salary maintenance, travel and living expenses, etc.).

Training

IONIS TECH places particular emphasis on maintaining and developing faculty skills through a dynamic training policy. This policy operates at two levels:

  • Listening to faculty training needs.
  • The professional review conducted every two years includes a dedicated section on training needs. Faculty members may express their training requests at this time; the School leadership then decides on them.
  • The annual review also provides an opportunity to discuss training needs, and beyond these formal moments, Schools remain open to requests submitted throughout the year.
  • Deploying a dedicated training offering addressing scientific, pedagogical, and technological challenges common to all IONIS TECH faculty members. The Schools jointly identify priority topics each year in order to coordinate their training initiatives.
